Chinese Government Scholarship for Maldivian students: agency number 4622 and the 2026/2027 embassy notice

Sources checked · Unofficial summary

For the 2026/2027 intake, applications from Maldives for the Chinese Government Scholarship were received by the Chinese Embassy in Maldives, submitted online only, and identified by the embassy's agency number 4622. The embassy's notice set the closing date at 10 February 2026 and stated that no paper documents were required.

Those dates belong to that single intake and have passed. Anything published for a later intake comes from the same publisher, the Chinese Embassy in Maldives, and should be read on its own terms rather than assumed to repeat these dates, this agency number or the conditions below.

Two notices, two separate routes

The embassy's Study in China pages carried two notices for that academic year, and they describe different routes. Mixing figures between them leads to wrong deadlines.

Neither notice refers to the other. Each sets its own receiving body and its own deadline, so no figure carries across from one to the other.

How the Maldives application was submitted

The first notice told applicants to go to the website of Study in China, click "Scholarship Application for Students" to enter the application system, and submit online. It gave the application website as http://www.campuschina.org. No paper documents were required, and the Chinese Embassy in Maldives was responsible for online application acceptance. The agency number it published for Maldives was 4622.

Uploaded supporting documents had to be clear, authentic and valid. The notice recommended that applicants use a professional device to scan their documents and stated that applicants bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials. Step-by-step instructions for the online form were referred to a bilingual attachment, "Online Application Instruction", rather than set out in the notice itself.

Questions about the physical or administrative side of the application could go to the embassy contacts given in the notice: consulate_mdv@mfa.gov.cn, or +00960-3010635, listed as reachable during office hours of 8am–12pm and 1:30–5:30pm.

Eligibility, levels, places and coverage

The notice body states only that applicants must meet the corresponding application eligibility and submit the relevant application documents. It does not itself list who qualifies, which study levels may be applied for, how many places were available, or what the scholarship covers. Those details were referred to attachments named in the notice — including "Application Eligibility and Documents List (English)" — and this summary covers the text of the notice only, not those files.

Because the notice does not state any of those points, none of them are repeated here from memory or borrowed from another programme's rules. If a later embassy notice publishes that information on the page itself, that is where an applicant can read it.

The CSCA requirement for undergraduate applicants

From the 2026/2027 academic year, the notice required applicants for undergraduate programmes in China to take the "China Scholastic Competency Assessment" (CSCA) before submitting their applications and to provide a valid CSCA score report when applying. Applicants planning to enrol in undergraduate programmes in September 2026 were told to register for the CSCA tests scheduled on 21 December 2025 or 25 January 2026.

The CSCA score report was described as a mandatory document for university admission review. Information about CSCA and registration was given at www.csca.cn, and applicants were told to consult their target universities about the test subjects required for the major they were applying to. Further explanation sat in the bilingual attachment "About CSCA".

The notice states this requirement for undergraduate programmes. It does not say anything about CSCA for other levels of study, so no assumption is made here about master's or doctoral applicants.

Applications, agents and the embassy's warning

The notice included an explicit warning: the China Scholarship Council never entrusts any individual or intermediary agent to process Chinese Government Scholarship applications. Applicants were told to submit applications directly through official dispatching authorities to avoid being deceived.

That line is advice about how applications are routed, not a statement about any particular organisation. This page does not recommend agents, consultancies or universities, and the site does not accept applications on anyone's behalf.

After this intake

The notice carried no dates beyond those listed above, and no separate official notice covering a later intake had appeared on the same page of the embassy website when it was last checked. Applicants waiting for a new round should watch the embassy's Study in China pages for it, and read the agency number, deadline, CSCA arrangements and document list fresh from that notice.

Nothing here should be read as a promise of an award, a place, admission or a visa outcome, and this page does not state or estimate any acceptance or success rate.

Questions people ask

Who received applications from applicants in Maldives?

The Chinese Embassy in Maldives. The notice says the embassy was responsible for accepting online applications in Maldives, and it gave 4622 as the agency number.

Was any part of the application submitted on paper?

No. The notice states that no paper documents were required and that applications were submitted online through the system reached from the Study in China website.

Is agency number 4622 used for other countries?

The notice publishes 4622 for the Chinese Embassy in Maldives and says nothing about how other countries are numbered, so it is treated here as that embassy's number only.

Was there a separate deadline for the Excellence Scholarship?

Yes. The Excellence Scholarship notice gave 23:59 Beijing Time on 31 March 2026 for completing the online application and submitting all required documents to the China Scholarship Council through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System. The notice prints that system address as http://studyingchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login; the address used in CSC notices elsewhere is studyinchina.csc.edu.cn. The spellings differ by one letter, so check that whichever one you reach actually loads the login page. Details for that scholarship were referred to a further page at https://www.campuschina.org/content/details3_790440.html.

Did every applicant need the CSCA?

The CSCA requirement is stated for applicants to undergraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic year. The notice does not extend it to other levels, and this page does not extend it either.
