Chinese Government Scholarship for Fijian students: the Chinese Embassy's 2026/2027 application notice
Sources checked · Unofficial summary
Applications from Fijian citizens for the Chinese Government Scholarship go through the Chinese Embassy in Fiji, which the notice says is authorized to be responsible for the scholarship enrolment of Fijian students. For the 2026/2027 academic year, applicants submitted an online application at www.campuschina.org between 5 November 2025 and 1 February 2026. That intake has closed; the next notice will come from the same Embassy, and this page does not predict its dates or assume its terms repeat.
Who receives the application
The notice is published by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Fiji. It states that the Embassy is authorized to handle enrolment for the scholarship and that it is the body that examines applications, carries out interviews and forwards recommended applications to the China Scholarship Council. The notice does not name any university, agent or other office as a receiver of applications.
The notice also states that the China Scholarship Council never entrusts any individual or intermediary agent to process scholarship applicants, and that applicants should apply directly through official dispatching authorities. It names www.campuschina.org as the only official website on which the Council publishes Study in China information.
For a wider view of the programme itself, see the site's Chinese Government Scholarship page.
How the application is submitted
Applications were submitted online only. The notice gives these steps for the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (CGSIS):
- Register an account at http://www.campuschina.org and log in.
- Enter and save your personal details under "Application Online" → "Edit Personal Details".
- Select Program Category "Type A".
- Enter the Agency Number 2421. The notice says the programme category and agency number are directly matched and both are mandatory; if either is wrong, the processing authorities will not receive the application.
- Fill in language proficiency and the study plan, choose up to three preferred institutions, upload the supporting documents, and click "Submit".
- Print the application form and download it.
- Send the application form to the Liaison Officer of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji by email.
Two details in the notice matter before you start. The system's list of available universities is matched to the student category and preferred teaching language you select; the notice refers readers to http://www.campuschina.org/universities/index.html for the majors each university offers, and notes that nearly 300 universities are available. It also advises using Firefox or Internet Explorer 11.0, and filling in all information in Chinese or English.
Once submitted, "Personal Details" and "Application Information" cannot be amended. Before the application is processed, you can withdraw it, edit it, and resubmit; if you withdraw and do not resubmit, it will not be processed. After processing begins, the application cannot be revoked.
The notice states that applications are completed online and that the Embassy no longer accepts materials sent by post.
Who is eligible
Eligibility is set by the level you apply for. All applicants must be citizens of the Republic of Fiji and in good health both mentally and physically, and must meet the admission requirements of the universities they apply to in academic ability, language proficiency and other criteria.
| Level | Qualification and age | Language requirement stated in the notice |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate (bachelor) | High school graduate, under 25 | Take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) and upload a valid score report |
| Master's | Bachelor's degree holder, under 35 | HSK Level 4 for Chinese-taught programmes |
| Doctoral | Master's degree holder, under 40 | HSK Level 4 for Chinese-taught programmes |
| General scholar | High school graduate at least, under 45 | HSK Level 3 for Chinese-taught programmes; those studying Chinese language are exempted |
| Senior scholar | Master's degree holder, or associate professor or above, under 50 | HSK Level 3 for Chinese-taught programmes |
For programmes taught in languages other than Chinese, the notice requires relevant language certificates such as IELTS or TOEFL, in line with each university's requirements.
Levels and number of places
The notice covers five student categories: undergraduate, master's, doctoral, general scholar and senior scholar. It does not state how many places were available for this intake, and it does not say how places were distributed across categories or universities.
What the scholarship covers
The notice states that the scholarship provides a tuition waiver, free accommodation, a stipend and comprehensive medical insurance. It states that international airfare is covered by the applicants themselves. It does not give stipend amounts or accommodation arrangements.
Documents
The notice lists these documents:
- Application form (Chinese or English), generated automatically by CGSIS after the online form is filled in correctly.
- Scanned passport information page. If the current passport expires within 12 months calculated from 1 September 2026, renew it and apply with the new one. An applicant who could not obtain a passport before applying for objective reasons may, with the Embassy's approval, submit other valid documents showing full English name, sex, nationality and date of birth.
- Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners submit official proof of student status from their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English need notarized Chinese or English translations.
- Academic transcripts, with the same translation rule.
- Language qualification certificates — a valid HSK report for Chinese-taught master's, doctoral, general scholar and senior scholar programmes; IELTS, TOEFL or similar for programmes taught in other languages, as each university requires.
- CSCA score report for bachelor's applicants. They must register for and sit the CSCA before the application deadline and obtain a valid score report; the notice tells applicants to contact the target institution for the test subjects their major requires. For September 2026 enrolment, the notice gives two test dates: 21 December 2025 and 25 January 2026, at www.csca.cn.
- Pre-admission documents. All applicants must provide at least one pre-admission document from a university they are applying to — a pre-admission notice from the international students' admission department, or an invitation letter from a school or professor.
- Study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English: at least 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree students and 800 words for postgraduates.
- Two recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors, for graduate and senior scholar programmes.
- Examples of work, for art or design majors, uploaded under "Example of Art/Other Supporting Documents" or sent to the university directly.
- Legal guardian documents in China, for applicants under 18. They can fill in "Contact in China" in CGSIS; the notice says an applicant without a contact person or organization in China may contact and fill in the Fijian Embassy in China.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form, for stays longer than six months. Submit a photocopy of the English-language form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and keep the original. All listed items must be covered; records without the physician's signature, the hospital's official stamp or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. The result is valid for six months.
- Non-criminal record report, usually issued within six months before the application is submitted. For the police clearance form's "Section C", the notice gives the Embassy in Fiji, 183 Queen Elizabeth Drive, Nasese, Suva, as the receiver's postal address.
All uploaded documents must be clear, authentic and valid; the notice says applicants bear the consequences of unclear or unidentifiable materials.
